A BUSY WEEK

Full on at the Shed this week. We were visited by Barry Golding ( 3rd  from the left)  and his lady wife. He is a patron of The Australian Mens Sheds Association. He was on his way to give a talk to a Mens Sheds conference in Leicester.

We have also made contact with the Mansfield Shed in Victoria, Australia and had preliminary talks about twinning and sharing information and ideas. Welcome to Paul Sladdin the latest friend of our blog.

John Musson was on holiday in the Lake District last week and popped in to the Shed in Kendall. He was well received and had a great time with the Lakeland Shedders.

We had a visit on the 28th September from John Evoy of The Irish Mens Sheds Association. It was good to get positive news of the growing Shed movement in Ireland. Whilst he was here he was presented with a pen created by our resident lathe expert Pete Bostock. We made him promise to use it when writing cheques for all the new Sheds he is able to start when he gets home.

Pete is also our health and safety expert.
He is seen here modelling our latest safety clothing.

Colin and John take a well earned rest after restoring a bench for Newark and District Housing.

Open Day 13th July

For those attending our open day on Wednesday 13th of July here is a simple map. It may be clearer if you click and enlarge it. On the day please park on the surrounding roads as our courtyard is quite small.

The men send a thankyou picture to the person who kindly donated the wonderful bandsaw.

Pictured at the first event attended by Men in Sheds Notts. A great chance to publicise the project.

The latest picture of our workshop.

Our new product.
The herb triangle. Stand it on your patio or fix it to the wall outside your kitchen door.

As Age UK has been nominated the charity of the year for the Wilkinson Stores Organisation we were visited by their management team. They had a great time helping construct some of our products and marvelling at some of the skills on show.

Having mastered the scroll saw and band saw, Colin receives instruction on the lathe from Geoff.

its allways noisy

Its great to hear noise in the shed.
The members are really starting to move the project forward.
We have our first steering group meeting tomorrow.
The Greenwood Partrnership Scheme have just asked us to provide twenty bird box kits for kids to assemble at one of their action days.
As soon as the men heard about this they set about sorting out a template.

The local PCSO's popped in for a chat and a cuppa today. One of them ordered two bird tables the other arranged for me to have a talk to a local Sheltered Housing group in the village.

Pete Bostock is producing some great stuff at the lathe.

New Year New Products

Things have started well after the Christmas break.

The lathe is being well used. Its amazing what you can do with an old table top.
Membership is rising steadily.
It was a little frustrating during the bad weather as we were unable to complete our orders.

But production should soon be back to normal.
